Richard Brust Ph.D., Process Development Scientist

Richard Brust Ph.D. is a Process Development Scientist at Alphazyme, where he is responsible
for the development of scalable, reproducible, and cost-effective methods for providing the
highest quality enzymes. Richard earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry with honors from
Hofstra University and his Ph.D. in chemistry from Stony Brook University where he focused on
characterization of bacterial photoreceptors. Following a successful graduate career, he
transitioned to the Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter, Florida, where he was awarded a
postdoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association as well as a Ruth L. Kirschstein
National Research service award individual postdoctoral fellowship (parent F32). With over 10
years of experience and having co-authored over 20 peer reviewed publications, Richard brings
a wealth of knowledge in developing and optimizing purification methods for complex protein
